Photo’s from higher altitude are exiting to see and fun to make.
I bought my first drone in July 2024. After an extended search, it was going for sure the DJI.
If the drone is < 250 gram, than no license is needed and can fly nearly anywhere (outside the no-fly zone).
To have obstacle avoidence and good camera quality, it became the DJI Mini 4 Pro.
I use the drone as an extended camera. Sometimes, you are locations where you are not able to come with your system camera and than the drone is the ideal solution to place it anaywhere you want.
You will not find the photo’s on Werk aan de muur as this site only accepts photos taken with a large sensor size (System cameras).

The "Perspective Shift" (Focus on the Feeling)
"Flying through the fog is an exercise in trust. You watch the altitude climb on the controller—20m, 50m, 80m—seeing nothing but haze. Then, at 100 meters, the veil finally tore open. The contrast was breathtaking: from a cold, blind world below to this vast, golden ocean of clouds above. It’s a view that reminds you the sun is always there, even when you can’t see it from the ground."

Perched high on a rocky hill under a dramatic sky, Bran Castle is an imposing medieval citadel. While famously shrouded in the legend of Dracula, this 14th-century fortress served a crucial historical role—guarding the ancient border between Transylvania and Wallachia. A powerful blend of folklore and stone-cold history.

Golden Domes Over the Bucharest Cityscape
An elevated view showcases the monumental People's Salvation Cathedral (Catedrala Mântuirii Neamului) in Bucharest, Romania. This massive Eastern Orthodox structure, still undergoing exterior work, is designed to be the tallest domed church in the world, symbolizing national unity and faith. Its towering central dome and multiple surrounding domes are covered in brilliant gold, making it a radiant landmark visible across the urban landscape. Surrounded by green spaces on the Dealul Arsenalului (Arsenal Hill), this grand project contrasts sharply with the density of the surrounding city and stands as a powerful new focal point in the Romanian capital.

Double rainbow above Nijmegen (Netherlands)
I was at home looking outside to the nice sky building up. It was raining heavily a few minutes ago. Now it is dry and I see a rainbow and this time it is complete. Also the second rainbow can be seen very subtly. I grabbed my DJI Mini 4 pro and lifted it up from our garden and made this panorama shot.

Adrianus Johannes Groenewegen (Cows in the field)
The last assignment with "de beste foto" are dutch (paint) artists. I have seen many paintings and many of the mills and cows in the field. In the evening, I saw these cows in the field at sunset. With my camera I could not come close enough and did send my drone to it. The cows were relaxed and the sun dropped below the horizon. To create a paint effect, Photoshop was needed and I decided not to perform this. This photo ended in third place and overall, I became the winner.
